So you’ve uploaded a video and a buyer has purchased it. What happens next?

If your video sells, we'll let you know via email, you can also keep track under My Account > Earnings.

Important note: 

• Minimum payment of £25: Once your balance hits £25 we'll initiate a payment.
• 'Accept' your PayPal payment': If this is your first payment from Newsflare, PayPal may request you log into your PayPal account and 'Approve' any Pending' payments.
• Delay between clip usage and payment: Typically, payment is received from buyers the moment they use the clip - in which case you instantly receive a share of the revenue. However sometimes there is a delay between the clip is used and Newsflare receiving payment. Once we receive usage reports & payment, we're able to share revenue with the Filmer.
  • If you spot your video on Facebook or YouTube, payments may take up to 60 days to process due to the way we receive usage updates.
  • If your clip is being used in a movie or TV commercial for example, we're notified and paid once the final edit has been confirmed. 
• Payment expectations: It is difficult to predict how popular your clip will be and how long it will continue to be used. Please check My Account > Earnings, where sales details can be found.

How do you receive payment?

We use PayPal or Wise for all our payments, so you can feel safe knowing your personal information will always be secure. Let us know how you'd like to be paid under My Account > Account Details.

• PayPal:

  Confirm your PayPal email address under Profile settings 

• Wise:

  Alternatively, if you don't have a PayPal account, under profile settings, enter your debit card information (sort code and account number) to receive payment via Wise direct to your bank account. 

When will you get paid?

We pride ourselves in delivering fast payment to our Filmers. Once our customers have confirmed use of your video and made payment, you'll receive your money within 24 hours, so long as your balance is over £25.

• Balance under £25: Once it reaches £25, payment will be made
• Payment unsuccessful: It can happen for a number of reasons, such as not accepting a PayPal payment within 30 days. Please contact us and we will re-submit payment.

If you have not contacted us within 12 months, the payment and any liability for it, will expire at the end of that 12 month period.

How much will you be paid?

This is dependent on how your video is used. Typically you could earn from up to £100 for your video, however, if it proves particularly popular you could earn over £1,000.

The amount you are paid is 50% of the video licence fee generated from selling the right to use your video to one of our clients. We pay out on all videos that sell for more than £10.

There are a few different ways your videos could be used:

In a Direct Sale, a client has paid to use your video for a set amount of time. Depending on where they use it and how long for, you could earn anything up to £1,500. If a brand pays to use your video on Facebook, payments are typically around £25. 

In a Revenue Share transaction, a client may pay to use your video and then pop some advertising around it to generate revenue. Newsflare will share the video licence fee generated from that advertising with you. Depending on how popular the video is, you could earn up to £200 per month.

A number of our partners include TV Production and Brand Agencies, who will also pay to use your video in their content. For example, Channel 4 produced "Britain's Wildest Weather" using Newsflare Filmer videos. Everyone who had their video featured received a payment depending on how many seconds their clip was used in the show.

If an agency creating an advert wants to use your video for an online, social media or TV campaign, your video could earn you well into thousands of pounds. 

It's hard to predict how popular your video will be, our buyers are searching all the time and it could be purchased several times over. We recently sold a video that originally was uploaded over four years ago – so you never know when your video will be in demand and what a buyer is looking for.

Having problems with your payments? 

Although we do our best to ensure things go as smoothly as possible, at times you may receive a notification of payment pending. It is likely that the payment simply needs to be claimed from your PayPal account. 

Simply: 

1. Log into your PayPal account
2. Go to Summary
3. Under 'Pending', next to the message showing the recipient "hasn't accepted yet", click Approve.

Please ensure you’ve claimed your payment within 30 days, after this it will be returned to us automatically by PayPal.
