Video briefs: responding to a video brief

What are Video Briefs?

A video brief on Newsflare is a request for video by a news buyer. Video biefs are:
  • Content specific - they request video footage of a specific event or of a certain subject
  • Location specific - they apply to a place, like "Piccadilly Circus", a region like "Devon" or even worldwide.
  • Time specific - they have a deadline (as well as a start date).

Where can I find them?

Video briefs can be found both on the Newsflare website and on the Newsflare mobile App. In the mobile App they appear based on your location. Remember it is always worth enabling location services on your mobile device. This not only allows us to send you the video brief most relevant to you, but also allows our app to geo-tag any video clips that you upload, making them easier to find by news buyers. On the website you can find video briefs using the search facility on the main navigation bar at the top of the screen. To filter video briefs based on location, open the location-based search pane.

How can I respond to an video brief?

For mobile uploads you can select the video brief and click the "Respond" button at the top right of the "Video Brief Details" screen to launch the camera and the video brief will auto-populate in the Upload Details screen. Alternatively you can manually select the video brief in the Upload Details screen. For Web uploads you can manually select the video brief on the Video Upload Page.
 
If you've already uploaded a video and would like to attach it to an video brief you can edit your video and select the video brief you'd like to add it to.
 

What happens to my clip after I have submitted it?

Video responses to a video brief are reviewed by the news buyer that set the video brief. If they decide that they want to publish or broadcast a clip, they purchase it and you (the submitter) get paid.

How much will I get paid if it is purchased?

It depends on how the clip is used, see How much will I be paid for more information.
 
It is important to remember that even if your clip isn't purchased by the video brief setter, it may still be purchased by another news buyer.
